Should the government provide funding for gang prevention programs?

75% of crimes are committed by gang members. Every year younger kids become affiliated with gangs and the crime increases. More and more kids seem to die at a young age due to gang affiliation. Young teens risk their lives for these gangs. There are programs that help out children to think twice on deciding whether being affiliated with a gang is a life they want to live for the rest of their life but they seem to fail because gang members target these children quickly. There are also programs that help out gang members to change their lives around and get back on their feet after they realize the gang life was not for them. But we want to prevent these people from affiliating gangs these ex-gang members are lucky to be alive and have changed their mind in time. Many politics talk about how they are working on decreasing crime in America but it does not seem to happen. It increases more than decreasing. I want to feel safe where i live in all i hear are gunshots and people dying from drive by shootings and kids getting killed by rival gangs. I would not want one of my younger siblings be gang affiliated i have seen some of them thrown their lives away because of gangs. Therefore i would like for the government to take in more consideration about funding for programs that prevent children from having gang affiliations.Do you think this is an issue in America? What are your suggestions?Give me some feedback?Do you think the government should fund gang prevention programs?
Do you think this is an issue worth bringing up up as a senior project that deals with injustices that affect in a negative way to the commun tiy??
