Sell Your Way Out of the Recession

Our home is so cluttered with 32 years of things we’ll never use, that I am on a campaign to begin the arduous task of getting rid of them. Now, they might be useless to us, but they’re still useful to somebody else. You know the old axiom: “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” Convincing my better half is another matter, though. We have continuously procrastinated starting this daunting task. It looms very large over our daily existence as we wind our way throughout the house trying not to knock over the many stacks and piles of stuff we have collected over the years. So many things seemed essential at the time of purchase or for sentimental reasons. But, that perception changes over the years.

We’ve donated many items to local charities during our lifetime together, and we’ll continue to do so. But, we seem to restock the house faster than we can get rid of things. I’ll bet that sounds familiar. Some folks just move every so often as a means of cleaning things out and to make moving easier. We have only owned one house: the one we’re still living in, so that’s not an option. There must be a better way: Sell some of your stuff! You don’t have to give everything away.

Because of our decision never to move, I’ve decided the best way to earn some extra cash is to start selling the things we no longer have any use for online. There are plenty of classified ad sites out there, not to mention the auction arena. What if you could really make some serious money? I know you can because I’ve watched friends do it, and I’ve heard many wonderful success stories about this income generating method in the news on a regular basis. Well, now I hope it’s our turn.

I think the best way to begin is to do some trial runs. Put a few things on your favorite classified advertising websites and see what happens. If you don’t have any, just start searching online. You’ll notice immediately that there is no shortage of them, and I’ll bet you are already aware of the big players that have had a large and long-lasting Web presence.

I’m sure you’ll get better and faster at it if you do this activity on a regular basis. Choose a day or two each week and dedicate yourself to finding that once-elusive reliable way to make money online.  It will become more reliable the more you practice the art of selling. You may even find some steals that you can resell. When you are successful on even a very modest level, that ought to propel you into profit mode. You’ll want to keep on doing this as a viable way to free up some open space in your home as well as earning some critical extra bill-paying income. What if you could actually build up some savings? Now, that would be sweet!

I don’t know if we can make enough to get us out of the depths of recession despair, but it’s certainly worth a shot, don’t you think? And to those of you who are unfortunately jobless, you’ve sure got more than enough extra time on your hands to give this idea a good healthy chance. You’ll feel better if you’re taking proactive action to improve your family’s economic lot. Good luck on your journey toward finding some much deserved economic relief. Here’s to our mutual prosperity!
