What is the Zlob Trojan and what does it do? Well, the answer is that it’s a nasty little Trojan horse that can sneak into a personal computer (PC) by convincing the computer user that it is an anti-spyware program when in fact what it really is is a way for a virus called Zlob to get into the hard drive and operating system of a computer. As a result, computers often will then experience unending shutdowns and reboots.

Normally, the first thing a computer user notices when this Trojan horse is trying to enter the computer is a fake pop up that appears that says that the video file which is trying to be viewed needs a new codec — usually related to an ActiveX codec — in order to operate properly. Unfortunately, the Trojan hides within this download and then begins its malicious work.

If the Trojan manages to make it into the computer, what looks to be genuine Microsoft pop-up advisories appear that warn the user that his or her computer is infected with spyware or ad ware and that it should be scanned immediately. Unfortunately, even if a user just tries to close out the pop up it will begin a download of a fake antivirus program that the Trojan needs in order to do its dirty work.

It is the responsibility of the client to ensure their expectations are in check with reality, despite any claims of the SEO.
