Should the government provide funding for gang prevention programs?

75% of crimes are committed by gang members. Every year younger kids become affiliated with gangs and the crime increases. More and more kids seem to die at a young age due to gang affiliation. Young teens risk their lives for these gangs. There are programs that help out children to think twice on deciding whether being affiliated with a gang is a life they want to live for the rest of their life but they seem to fail because gang members target these children quickly. There are also programs that help out gang members to change their lives around and get back on their feet after they realize the gang life was not for them. But we want to prevent these people from affiliating gangs these ex-gang members are lucky to be alive and have changed their mind in time. Many politics talk about how they are working on decreasing crime in America but it does not seem to happen. It increases more than decreasing. I want to feel safe where i live in all i hear are gunshots and people dying from drive by shootings and kids getting killed by rival gangs. I would not want one of my younger siblings be gang affiliated i have seen some of them thrown their lives away because of gangs. Therefore i would like for the government to take in more consideration about funding for programs that prevent children from having gang affiliations.Do you think this is an issue in America? What are your suggestions?Give me some feedback?Do you think the government should fund gang prevention programs?
Do you think this is an issue worth bringing up up as a senior project that deals with injustices that affect in a negative way to the commun tiy??

If as a country we were running giant surpluses I could see trying this once again. Given the drastic defecit, think we need to drastically cut taxes and govt spending.

as a teenager that lived in the worst places where drive bys occured once a month i do believe that the govt should do something about it. it is important for people to not get involved in gangs because they just make other people suffer. i think that programs that help gang member get back on track are good things. this is why they should keep on doing programs like this. =]

I think we should have more gang preventionz b-cuz i live in the same situation as u. Itz not that im scarred to go out & be myself but itz just they just like to start sumthing. Now im getting tired of it cuz i got a lil sister & i do not want her to be dealing with it too. Also i do not want my lil sister to lose a big brother & make her life dramatic. So their should be more gang preventionz!

Well, sitting down with the mexican ,south american, european, asian, middle eastern, african, and homeland government with money in hand is a waste of time. Zero tolerance( not abuse of law) is the way to change things. I do not believe in the fool me once, fool me twice policy. No one is ever sorry. You know what you did was wrong but still persued it. I am not infallible but never to any point to harm anyone.

Yes this is a big issue in america. The government should provide funding for gang prevention programs. It should show them how hard it is for an ex gang member trying to live on an everyday and how those wrong choices can mess up your life.Gang life is what the youth sees on a everyday basis you cant unteach what some many people say is good living, this program shold hit the youth as hard as gang life does. Yes this a good issue to use as a senior project .

    hmm..?
i dont think the goverment should spend money on gang prevention because no matter what there is always going to be gangs. Also if gangmembers start seeing the goverment getting in volve w/there life style thing arent going to be looking good for the person encharged…

This is a topic that i am really concerned about as well. it is also true that a lot of young kids do get dragged into things like this because of the privileges they can’t obtain. I believe we really need to help these people change there life around, by providing them with a better school. we need to worry about the future of the generations to come. we should stand up and prevent this from happening.

I do belive that this is an issue because many ppl think that they will just die off and they will be put behind bars.my sugestions are that the government should provide jobs so that they could be off the streets. the government should fund some provention programs and these programs wil help stop some gang violance and can cause ppl to join and not be in the streets. this should be brought up as a senior project cause there are many cases that has happen in the past and can be use to prove a point in the society and is hard topic that has meaning to it.
